This local mezzo soprano, a recent U-M Music School grad who won the 2022 SMA young artist competition, performs a program highlighted by Francis Poulenc’s Airs chantés, a song cycle originally composed to mock the words of the self-serious neoclassical poet Jean Moréas. Also, selections from Fernando Obradors’ Canciones clásicas españolas, Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch, and Libby Larsen’s Cowboy Songs, along with Rossini’s “La regata veneziana,” Florence Price’s “An April Day,” Rosephany Powell’s “Dying from Then, Here, & Now,” and Lena McLin’s “Wait ’til I put on my crown.” Piano accompaniment by Daniel Weber.
