23rd Annual Saline Celtic Festival: City of Saline.
See 8 Friday. Today: Highland athletics competitions, performances by top Michigan pipe & drum bands, Highland dance competitions, a “Wee Folks Island” of kids activities, historical reenactments, jousting tournaments with knights on horseback, sheep herding demos, and textile demonstrations. Live music (times TBA) includes a foot-stomping, rock-influenced fusion of traditional Celtic and Americana music by The Moxie Strings, the 10-piece Allendale Celtic music band Crossbow, the Detroit-area Irish music duo Brother Crowe, the eclectic jazz-Celtic fusion ensemble Nessa, and the renowned touring student fiddle ensemble Saline Fiddlers. Also, fire stunts by Ring of Steel Action Theatre & Stunt Troupe. 9 a.m.–midnight.
