There are three district courts in Washtenaw County: 14A, 4133 Washtenaw, (734) 973–4880, processing all cases in Washtenaw County except those within the City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Ypsilanti; 14B, 7200 S. Huron River Dr., Ypsilanti, (734) 554–4000, processing cases within the Township of Ypsilanti; and the 15th, 301 E. Huron, (734) 794–6750, processing cases within the City of Ann Arbor. The district courts handle criminal and traffic misdemeanors, civil infractions, local ordinance violations, felony arraignments, probable cause conferences and preliminary exams, landlord-tenant filings, civil cases where the disputed amount is $25,000 or less, and small claims cases where the disputed amount is $6,500 or less. Small claims cases are heard without lawyers or juries, usually before a magistrate.
