Volunteers help children ages 0-12 and families through five different programs, with the goal of literacy by the end of grade 3. Read with Kids pairs a reading mentor with a preschool student, kindergarten student, and first grader. The Staying in Closer Touch program brings an incarcerated parent together with a volunteer to make a recording of the parent reading a book which is then given to their child. BookPALS pairs two 2nd graders who “meet” on a tablet, reading books to each other and conversing about them.
