Programs presented by Hudson Mills naturalist Kim Sherwin. Oct. 6 (8 a.m.): "Fall Birding." A guided walk to look for migrating birds, which includes an informal game of "Name that Warbler." For beginning and experienced birders.

Oct. 12 (4 p.m.): "Trick or Treat Along the Trail." Families invited to visit with Halloween and nature characters on the trail and then return to the Activity Center for cider, doughnuts, and craft activities. Costumes encouraged.

Oct. 13 (1 p.m.): "Pumpkin Carving Party." All invited to carve a pumpkin. Designs available. Cider & doughnuts. $6.

Oct. 13 (8-10 p.m.): "Full Moon Walk." A brief talk on moon facts & folklore before an evening hike to watch the sunset and the rise of the Hunter's Moon.

Oct. 20 (1-3 p.m.): "Zombie Apocalypse Survival." All invited to learn the basics of survival in nature, including shelter building and fire making.

Dec. 1 (8-10 a.m.): "Winter Birding." Guided walk to find birds. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. $5.

Jan. 4 (10-11 a.m.): "Cardboard Sled Creations." Build and test out your own. Materials provided. Hot chocolate, if you like. $5.

Jan. 11 (9-10 a.m.): "Bird Feeder Fun." Make a simple bird feeder, while learning about which seeds attract birds. $5.

Jan. 25 (10-11 a.m.): "Animal Signs." All ages 3-6 invited to search for homes, tracks, & other signs of animals. $5.

Feb. 1 (10 a.m.-noon): "Neat-ure Crafts 101." All ages 16 & up invited to make a decorative coat hanger made with gathered twigs. Bring other homemade crafts for inspiration. $8.

Feb. 5 (10-11 a.m.): "Snow Day." All ages 3-4 (accompanied by adult) invited to paint the snow, look for animal signs, and have other snowy adventures. $5.

Feb 8: (10 a.m.-noon): "Winter Birding." Guided walk to find some of the hardier winter birds. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. $5.

Feb. 15 (10-11:30 a.m.): "Tracking a Snowman." All ages 6 & up invited on a walk in search of a snowman and signs of other animals. Afterward, build and decorate your own snowman. $5.

Feb. 29 (10-11 a.m.): "Codes of Nature." All ages 3-6 invited to learn how color is used in nature. $5.

Mar. 7 & 8 (10 & 11 a.m., and noon): "Journey to the Sugarbush." All ages invited to tap into a maple tree. Followed by an all-you-can-eat pancake & sausage breakfast ($6; kids, $4). $5 (kids, $3).
