Ark: Erin McKeown
A Virginia native who currently teaches at Brown University, McKeown is a veteran singer-songwriter known for her distinctive guitar style, her droll understated lyrics, and her eclectic mix of musical styles, from 40s swing, cowboy jazz, and contemporary funk to Tin Pan Alley and folk-rock. Her Off-Broadway musical, Miss You Like Hell, cowritten with Pulitzer-winning playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes, earned 5 Drama Desk Awards nominations. $20.
Blind Pig: The Red Not Chili Peppers
All ages admitted. Veteran Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band from L.A. Opener: The Hacky Turtles, an alternative funk- rock quintet from Grand Rapids whose music has been described as "sort of like the Red Hot Chili Peppers taking a road trip to the Appalachians with John Mayer." $12-$15. 8 p.m.-midnight.
Blue LLama: Cuarteto Escobar
Latin dance music drawn from the cultural history of Latin America by this ensemble of members of the Detroit-based Cuban salsa outfit Grupo Escobar.
Ypsi Alehouse: Mary Ann Kirt
Pop-folk and indie rock originals by this local singer-guitarist. 6-8 p.m.
Zal Gaz Grotto: Paul Keller Orchestra
Award-winning 15-piece big band led by bassist Keller and featuring vocalist Sarah D'Angelo and occasional guest vocalists. Also, each week features a middle set by a guest student ensemble. 6-8 p.m.
