Ark: The Accidentals and Sawyer Fredericks

Double bill. The Accidentals is the nationally acclaimed Traverse City folk trio of young multi-instrumentalists Katie Larson and Savannah Buist and percussionist Michael Dause. Z93 FM (Grand Rapids) DJ Matt Mansfield says they give "an edge to folk with unique instrumentation," adding that they "combine musicality, originality and melodic beauty with a welcome and unexpected bite to clever lyrics." Fredericks is an Americana singer-songwriter with a soulful vocal style from rural New York who won season 8 of The Voice. $25-$45. 7 & 9:30 p.m. [venue info]

Blind Pig: Reagan Youth

Revived version, led by original guitarist Paul Bakija, of this early 80s anarcho-punk band from Queens. Openers: Downtown Brown, a popular Detroit postpunk metal-funk trio, and b-knox, a local DJ who spins experimental rock music. $15. [venue info]

Blue LLama: Joey DeFrancesco Trio

Oct. 1 & 2. The son of the great jazz organist Papa John DeFrancesco, this veteran prodigy from Philadelphia is widely recognized as the best of the current generation of jazz organists. By turns soulful, funky, and groove-oriented, his playing displays unbelievable chops, and he approaches all the material in his varied repertoire of standards and originals with superabundant energy. Tonight he showcases material form a new CD, More Music. $100 includes dinner. 6 & 8:30 p.m. [venue info]
