All ages admitted to early show. This popular local singer- guitarist rocketed to national prominence in 2016 with a 4th-place finish on NBC's The Voice. His latest CD, Real, a collection of songs drawing on blues, country, gospel, and roots rock, was recorded in L.A. with an all-star cast of session legends, including saxophonist Tom Scott, drummer Jim Keltner, and bassist Leland Sklar. $25. 8-9:30 p.m. & 11 p.m.-1:30 a.m.

Dec. 29-31. Three-night showcase of local and Michigan bands in a wide spectrum of genres. 6 different bands each night. A benefit for the nonprofit youth tutoring and writing center 826michigan. $10 per night. 8 p.m.-1:30 a.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.). Habitat Lounge: Soulstice
Hard-driving horn-fueled funk dance band from East Lansing.
Mash: Chris Canas Band
Detroit blues band fronted by young blues vocalist and virtuoso guitarist Canas.
Mash: The George and Laura Duo
Funky soul and R&B by the duo of vocalist Laura Rain and her husband, guitarist George Friend. 6-9 p.m.
Zal Gaz Grotto: Paul Keller Trio
High-energy mainstream jazz by this local ensemble led by composer-bassist Keller. With vocalist Sarah D'Angelo and keyboardist Duncan McMillan. 10. 7-10 p.m.
Zou Zou's Cafe: Brown & Falk
Originals and offbeat covers in an eclectic mix of styles from bluegrass and blues to folk and jazz by the veteran duo of singer- guitarists Rick Brown and Jack Falk.
