Saline Area Block Party: Evangelical Homes of MI Foundation and the Saline Area Chamber.

On October 19th the Evangelical Homes of Michigan Foundation, in partnership with the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, will be holding the Saline Area Block Party at our facility in Saline, 400 W. Russell Street. Over 20 restaurants will be providing samples of their specialties for those that come hungry. There will be tons of food and fun for the whole family with a kiddie train, petting zoo, face painting, bouncy house and slide for the young ones, and a rock wall, scavenger hunt, and doughnut-eating contest for those a little older. Adult beverages can be purchased. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for those age 10-16, seniors (65+) are $5 and kids 10 and under are free. There is no need to register early just pay at the door and enjoy yourself. For more information, you can call 248-871-5035. "Holiday Observances": Ann Arbor Jewish Cultural Society.

Oct. 8, 9 & 20. All invited to this Kol Nidre service, which features haunting melodies sung by the JCS High Holiday Harmony Choir in preparation for the Day of Atonement. A Yom Kippur observance (Oct. 9, 2 p.m.) features readings by JCS members and friends, followed by a Break-the-Fast Potluck (6 p.m.; bring a vegetarian and nut-free dish to pass). Also, a Sukkot observance (Oct. 20, 10:30-noon) with recipe sharing, storytelling, and a chance to decorate the sukkah, a temporary shelter built for the weeklong festival.
