Ages 3-5. Toe Tappers will have a blast while learning about rhythm and coordination. Sam introduces children to basic tap steps as well as ways to move through space like skipping, sliding, jumping and hopping. Creative movement activities will also spark their imaginations to move in new ways! Sam will let you know before each class what household props you may need. "Jump into Speech": Early Childhood Division Rec & Ed, First Steps.

Ages 15 to 30 months & an Adult. Between 15 and 30 months toddlers develop their vocabulary at an amazing rate. This class provides tools and strategies for adults to use with their children all centered around communication skills. There is time for social chatting and dialogue at the beginning and end of each class facilitated and modeled by Susanna with help from the participating adults using puppets, stuffed animals, visual aids and other props we may have around the house. Circle Time includes songs and fingerplays with movements, partner activities and "What's in the Box." A weekly extension will be available privately on YouTube highlighting the specific strategies to practice after class ends as well as a private group for posting additional content, building community and sharing progress. "Whimsical Winter Wonderland Online with Danielle": Early Childhood Division Rec & Ed, First Steps.

Every Thurs., Jan. 28-Mar. 25 Ages 2-5 year olds & an Adult. Watch with excitement as your child expands his or her creativity while continuing to develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor movement in this new virtual art class. Each child creates a variety of "Winter Themed" art projects under Danielle's guidance and with assistance from their caregiver. Every week features a different theme for art projects and uses a mixture of materials for your little one to explore. Class begins with a friendly circle time and a gathering song to match the theme of the week. Basic materials needed at home include crayons or markers, scissors and glue. Additional materials for each project will be provided in an individual kit for each student. A contactless supply pick up takes place on January 25th at the Westerman Preschool and Family Center. Ages 3 - 5 Does your child pretend to be a ballet dancer? Then he or she will love this virtual class designed for our newest ballet students. Miss Tyra uses musical activities to teach balance, rhythm, movement and coordination, along with basic ballet steps. They'll learn the French words for the ballet movements too. The main purpose is to gently encourage our beginning dancers so they gain confidence. This class is a combination of Hello Toes and PreBallet for any child interested in learning ballet basics. Ages 2 - 5 years & Adult. Join Naturalist Chris Colaner in an innovative class entirely outside in Eberwhite Woods! We explore a new STEAM concept in each workshop while enjoying the wintry natural wonders of the woods. Each class is loosely guided by a science theme and/or activity, and includes exploration, free-play, art and music. Register for one or all three. Class meets rain, snow or shine so dress for the weather and bring a change of clothing just in case! Meet at the entrance of Eberwhite Woods next to the west parking lot of Eberwhite School, 800 Soule, 48103. If weather conditions are unsafe, make-up dates are listed below. Starting Monday, January 4, Northfield Township Area Library will be having their very first snowman competition. Take a picture of your snowman and send it in an e-mail along with your snowman's name and contact info to info@ntal.org.

"Outdoor Adventures with Andrea in the Mitchell-Scarlett Nature Area": Early Childhood Division Rec & Ed, First Steps.

Ages 2-5 years & Adult. Is your family ready to embrace the outdoors this winter and play outside in this newly-designed class full of surprises? Andrea, teacher of Little Tykes Sports City, will lead families in a COVID-safe fashion with a different focus and theme each week. Trek through the woods (and hopefully some snow!) completing scavenger hunts, creating winter-based art or learning new sports and games all while being in the company of other children and parents during this socially-isolated time. Meet in the grass at the entrance to the Mitchell Scarlett Woods Nature Area at the end of the bus loop. All adults and children are expected to wear masks. If weather conditions are unsafe, make-up class(es) will be offered on March 14th and/or 21st.
