"Free Writing your Medical Story": Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

community member   < less OLLI Study Group

Have you ever received a medical diagnosis that redefined your life? Perhaps you were staring intently at scans or maybe only listening to the sound of your doctor's voice, but in that split second, your reality changed.
Some of us became patients and others, caregivers, as the diagnosis took its place in our lives. We carry these stories in our hearts. This workshop, led by Instructor Diane Nash, provides an opportunity to construct a narrative from a collection of memories. It is not a support group. It is a writing workshop designed to help you reflect on and write about your experience. Through extemporaneous writings you will craft the story of the time illness entered your life.
This study group will meet on Wednesdays for four weeks beginning on October 13. Preregistration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed prior to the first session.

"Dwelling Place- Memory and Celebration at Agricole"

community member   < less Dwelling Places

Please join us for a community art project remembering those people, things, and experiences we have lost.
The past 20 months of the pandemic have resulted in tremendous social and personal changes combined for many of us with complicated and storied feelings of loss, grief, and solitude. This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to join with others in-person to construct a "dwelling place" or memory niche to honor, celebrate, and remember important people and events in our lives. This in-person building event can be combined with the online planning session. Please register for the online planning session separately at https://tinyurl.com/vr6rf6e3. Because of space constraints, in-person building workshop will be capped at 20 participants.

"The Love, Lure, and Lore of the Clothesline": Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

community member   < less OLLI Study Group

Remember the days long ago when everyone hung their laundry out on the line to dry -- when folks went "online" without the internet? Instructor Anne Lawrence's slide presentation will show why she (and so many others) love their clotheslines, will explain the lure of the line, and the lore that grew up around it.
There will be washday history, along with sociological issues, the role of feminism, industrialization, culture, and ecology involved. You may consider the clothesline in ways never before appreciated! The sharing of stories and memories will be encouraged. Let's hang out together - Anne won't leave you hanging.
Anne has been a Clothesline Historian and Hobbyist for the past 40 years, collecting anything she can find that relates to laundry blowing in the wind on clotheslines, and since retiring, sharing her passion with those who remember.
Preregistration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed prior to the first ses
