Morning Tai-Chi: Sun Shen.

community member   < less Master Kim Instructs Senior Student

Happiness is not a circumstance, it is a cultivation. When you practice Tai-Chi, you get to know a part of you that was hidden and you have been looking for all of your life: the power and potential that your mind and body are really capable of. Classes are held Monday through Friday, 7am to 8:30am. See if it is a right fit for you--enjoy your first week of class for free. Contact Sifu Joseph Wang at info@sunshen.org or (734) 531-8796 for more information.

"Suspension-Extension Coyopa Yoga": Mota Thai Yoga.

  community member   < less

Yoga, unlike other yoga class you've taken before. This class uses straps (similar to TRX) to stretch muscles that can be difficult to stretch in other exercises. The straps are used to help balance and stretch deeper (and safely) into yoga postures. Usually you will feel the stretches in your tighter/weakest muscles first. Your first couple classes may be intense, but if you continue to come to this class, you will notice big changes! This class can help build strength, relieve pain, release tension, increase flexibility, and prevent injury. Come join us Monday nights at 5:45pm. The studio will be heated between 85-95 degrees, so bring a water bottle. Your first class at the studio is free!
We are located on Huron Street across from the YMCA. Look for blue door #22 with a red buddha on it. You are allowed to park in the lot in front of the studio. We share a parking lot with several businesses including the Yellow Barn.

"I Want to Meditate, But...": Su Hansen: Personal and Spiritual Growth.

  community member   < less

I often hear, "I want to make meditation a part of my daily life, but…". What follows are stories about failure and negative self-talk about not making enough effort or self-sabotage. You can bring those stories and that talk with you to our workshop. There will be a basket by the door where you can leave them if you'd like and after the workshop you may find that you won't want to take them with you when go.
First we will explore what you are looking for from meditation. That will help us to get an idea of your destination and give me a start on what to offer you to help to get you there. We will then look at what happens when you think about or try to meditate. Hint: often we try hard to do it right. I won't be teaching you the approved way to meditate, but I will give you some useful information on different ways people have found to effectively do it. I will also bring along a whole trunk of different meditation and contemplative practices you can try on, play with, see if th
