"I Want to Meditate, But...": Su Hansen: Personal and Spiritual Growth.

  community member   < less

I often hear, "I want to make meditation a part of my daily life, but…". What follows are stories about failure and negative self-talk about not making enough effort or self-sabotage. You can bring those stories and that talk with you to our workshop. There will be a basket by the door where you can leave them if you'd like and after the workshop you may find that you won't want to take them with you when go.
First we will explore what you are looking for from meditation. That will help us to get an idea of your destination and give me a start on what to offer you to help to get you there. We will then look at what happens when you think about or try to meditate. Hint: often we try hard to do it right. I won't be teaching you the approved way to meditate, but I will give you some useful information on different ways people have found to effectively do it. I will also bring along a whole trunk of different meditation and contemplative practices you can try on, play with, see if th

Hatha Yoga: Mota Thai Yoga.

  community member   < less

Sundays from 12:30-1:30pm. In this slower paced class, many of the postures are held for longer periods of time than a typical yoga class. This will allow for deep connective tissues to be gently stretched, and for your body to create internal heat. There will also be postures that will flow from one to the next. Class is heated between 85-95 degrees. This class uses low/minimal lighting, allowing you to look inward, and be able to focus on your own yoga practice.
We are located on Huron Street across from the YMCA. You can park in the parking lot in front of the studio. We share a parking lot with several businesses including the Yellow Barn. Look for blue door #22 with a red buddha. Your first class is FREE!

FeldenkraisⓇ Awareness Through MovementⓇ: "Stringing the Nine Pearls": Sun Shen.

  community member   < less

This FeldenkraisⓇ class guides you through your own exploration of how your body moves, and is informed by Samo Myers' Tai Chi expertise, especially as it relates to your "nine pearls," or nine major joints. When we sense the parts of us that are stuck and learn how to move them, we feel flow in our bodies and agency in our lives. This is an extraordinary tool for those seeking to improve their performance, or to find relief from physical pain and discomfort.
