"Suspension-Extension Coyopa Yoga": Mota Thai Yoga.

  community member   < less

Yoga, unlike other yoga class you've taken before. This class uses straps (similar to TRX) to stretch muscles that can be difficult to stretch in other exercises. The straps are used to help balance and stretch deeper (and safely) into yoga postures. Usually you will feel the stretches in your tighter/weakest muscles first. Your first couple classes may be intense, but if you continue to come to this class, you will notice big changes! This class can help build strength, relieve pain, release tension, increase flexibility, and prevent injury. Come join us Monday nights at 5:45pm. The studio will be heated between 85-95 degrees, so bring a water bottle. Your first class at the studio is free!
We are located on Huron Street across from the YMCA. Look for blue door #22 with a red buddha on it. You are allowed to park in the lot in front of the studio. We share a parking lot with several businesses including the Yellow Barn.

"Yoga for Athletes at Running Fit": Yoga Rising.

  community member   < less

Yoga for Athletes is a class for athletes of all abilities and experience, not to be confused with athletic yoga! Our aim is to improve performance and pleasure in athletic pursuits and to prevent injury. Much of the focus is on stretching, but we go deeper than just becoming more limber. We tone underused muscles, build mental strength and stamina with a focus on breath work, and begin to correct the body imbalances that can lead to chronic pain and injury.

Each retreat is an opportunity to enjoy the quiet of the country while practicing sitting and walking meditation. These retreats are fundraisers for the benefit of Michigan Friends Center.
Carol Blotter's meditation practice draws from dual roots in Quaker and Buddhist traditions. She has taught since 1999, has led more than 40 retreats across the United States, and has taught over 50 classes in meditation to spiritual seekers, schools, universities and medical groups. She is a teacher for The Forest Way -- an organization dedicated to providing retreat opportunities conducive to spiritual growth that is both balanced and integrated.
