Around 1,300 people ages 5-90 attend this popular family affair. This year’s event offers 5-km and 10-km chip-timed races along beautiful tree-lined streets, as well as a half-mile kid-popular “fun run” ($5) around the park. With a celebrity appearance TBA, as well as live music by the local classic rock band Ain’t Dead Yet. Awards for the top male, female, and non-binary finishers in each age group. Proceeds benefit Burns Park PTO programs. Organizers of the original Water Hill Music Fest decided to end their run a few years ago, but some musicians in the neighborhood have organized themselves to maintain the beloved tradition of performing on front porches and in yards and driveways on the first Sunday in May. Ukulele Slim & the Career Criminals (2–3 p.m., 1000 block of Brooks St.) plays vintage jazz & blues, murder ballads, and other songs of love and woe. She-Bop (4–5 p.m., 500 block of Miller Ave.) is a girl-group-style ensemble fronted by vocalists Laurie Lounsbury, Carol Shaw, and Sarah Sands that performs new and old songs in 3-part harmony. In this class you’ll learn about well-known Golden Age cocktails like the Martini and Manhattan, but also some lesser-known drinks that were wildly popular at the time!

Your booking includes light snacks (pretzels, nuts). The Last Word is closed during the class, so no food service is available. The class includes a combination of history and stories, technique instruction, and hands-on making of cocktails. Plus sampling, of course!
