YehRim Lee: U-M School of Art & Design Penny Stamps Speaker Series/U-M Museum of Art Artist Talk.
This Korean-born ceramic artist discusses her work that explores contemporary life using traditional clay techniques drawn from Korean onggi ware, an iron-glazed brown pottery, as well as her time studying ceramic making in Jingdezhen, China, the “porcelain city” that produced high-quality blue-and-white ware for global trade between the 16th and the 19th centuries. This local ensemble, which began performing in driveways and backyards shortly after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, presents “Miss Gloria’s Music Circle,” a program of traditional and modern children’s music featuring vocalist Miss Gloria Wilson. Open mic storytelling competition sponsored by The Moth, the NYC-based nonprofit storytelling organization. Ten storytellers are selected at random from among those who sign up to tell a 3- to 5-minute story on the theme of “Bizarre.” Stories are judged by a 3-person team recruited from the audience.
