“My Mother and the Michigan/Ohio War”: Purple Rose Theatre Company

Susan Angelo directs the premiere of local actor-playwright Paul Stroili’s comedy about the widow of a history buff who tries to bring to fruition her late husband’s dream of a full-scale reenactment of the 1835 boundary dispute sometimes called the Michigan-Ohio War. Sea Monsters (noon) follows a curious dolichorhynchops (an extinct species of marine reptile) as she travels through the most dangerous oceans in history. The Sky Tonight (1 & 3 p.m.) is an exploration of the current night sky, with tips on how to find the cardinal directions, constellations, and planets on your own. Parent & Kids Boundary Setting & Personal Safety. 2 Day Workshop: Includes 2 Saturdays in April = 6th + 13th, 12:30-2:30 with Heidi at the Harriet St. Studios. This 2 day workshop will include basic, sensitively presented information about: Mental preparedness: understanding what “uh oh” feelings are (trusting myself) and knowing I have a right to my own body and that it’s ok to tell adults and older children “NO!" Verbal assertiveness: Learning what to say and how to say it in order to make ourselves heard. Physical self defense: We will actively practice simple physical skills and self defense strategies specifically chosen for use by smaller people against a larger, stronger attacker. “Historic Earhart Manor & Ann Arbor in the 19th Century Tours”: Concordia University Ann Arbor Guild

Visitors have a choice of either a docent-led tour of the manor or a self-guided audio tour of 33 paintings—they won’t have time for both. The manor is a 1935 French-style country manor built by former local gasoline baron Harry Earhart. Aboard the Pinafore, the captain’s daughter moons for a poor but honest sailor. Her father won’t abide a marriage with a common deckhand, but in time the lovers predictably find bliss. “The City in the City in the City”: Penny Seats Theatre Company

The floor opens for social tango from 3-6pm. Enjoy a drink at the cafe, chat with others, observe, and dance tango. There will be designated 'Tango Mentors' from the club and community to offer insights and chat about tango culture for the curious 🙂
Bio:
Edmond Bardhi stands as one of the pillars of the Ann Arbor local community as a tango teacher, traveling DJ, and organizer of the Ann Arbor Tango Marathon. He is a highly sought-after tango DJ, frequently receiving invitations at prestigious festivals and marathons across the US and Internationally.
Andrea Manoppo's tango journey began in a University of Michigan tango class in 2010 (where they also coincidentally met for the first time). After hearing the call of the wild, eight years after in the East Coast, she finds joy in DJing and organizing local tango events. Edmond and Andrea travel globally and have explored social tango in over 30 cities, all across the world.
