Great Lakes Regional Carillon Gathering: 2024 U-M Organ Conference
Oct. 4 & 5. This conference includes free public performances on the bells of Burton Tower by U-M students, carillon faculty, and visiting carillonneurs. U-M Museum of Natural History Discovery Demos
Every Sat. & Sun. (except Oct. 6). U-M Museum of Natural History Planetarium & Dome Theater
Every Fri.–Sun. Three different audiovisual planetarium shows suitable for all ages. We Are Stars (noon) explores the secrets of our cosmic chemistry and our explosive origins, connecting life on Earth to the evolution of the universe. The Sky Tonight (1 & 3 p.m.) is an exploration of the current night sky, with tips on how to find the cardinal directions, constellations, and planets on your own. Tales of the Maya Skies (2 p.m.) immerses viewers in the wonders of Mayan science, examining how Mayan scholars developed a sophisticated understanding of astronomy, architecture, and mathematics that enabled them to predict solstices, solar eclipses, weather patterns, and planetary movements. Rode to Hell Gravel Race: Tris4Health
Four bike races of lengths ranging from 24 to 100 miles along gravel roads east and north of Chelsea. The 2 longest routes pass through the village of Hell. Aid stations placed along the way. Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour: Stephenson Ceramics
Take a beautiful drive through the heart of Ann Arbor and head west, where you will find, tucked away on a scenic road, a secret sculpture garden. Internationally recognized ceramic artists Susan and John Stephenson spent over 60 years finding new ways to shape clay in their studio off Waters Road.
Nestled in the woods that became their playground is a lifetime of their creations. The garden features a selection of their work, curated into the landscape for the summer months. The garden includes several works being exhibited for the first time. From diverse metal and ceramic sculptures to gestural and colorful wall plates, the garden invites the curious and the creative to explore. Expect to be inspired!
Drop by for your own strolling tour or sign up below for a docent guided tour. Fridays and Saturdays from 11 to 4pm or by appointment.
Please note: Parts of the sculpture garden have uneven and gently sloping terrain. Caution is advised.

“Office Christmas Party, Grinch in Fight with Rudolph, Police Called”: Purple Rose Theatre Company
Every Wed.–Sun., Sept. 26–Dec. 22. Purple Rose founder Jeff Daniels directs the premiere of his comedy about an office Christmas party that goes wrong when 2 employees dressed as the Christmas-stealing Grinch and red-nosed reindeer Rudolph disagree over where to clap along on “Silent Night.” When a video of this non-brawl goes viral, internet followers offer the two non-violent coworkers $100,000 to livestream a staged rematch. Midwest Pro Wrestling Alliance
