U-M opera lecturer Abbigail Cote directs U-M students in the acclaimed NYC-based composer Missy Mazzoli and her librettist Royce Vavrek's atmospheric 2018 chamber opera based on Karen Russell's short story. It's about an American family struggling to meet the overwhelming challenges of homesteading during the westward movement of settlers in the late 19th-century. A small chamber orchestra conducted by U-M voice professor Kirk Severtson accompanies. Prerecorded in November in the Power Center.

VIrtual Chair Yoga: Yoga Jule.

Join Kip for a 6-week session of Virtual Chair Yoga. This class will meet every Friday from January 8 to February 12 at 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Kip has taught chair yoga for a couple of years and loves being able to teach the class to everyone! Everyone is welcome! All you need for this class is a chair, tie/strap and a block or something similar.
This is a 6-week session of yoga for the low price of only $31.50.

Blissful Backs Yoga - Six Week Session: Yoga Jule.

Join Kip for six weeks of wonderful gentle yoga from the safety of your own home. Kip has been teaching for Yoga Jule since 2017 and is excited about being able to offer this class online. Poses in the class will include on the floor, hand and knees, and standing. A yoga mat is recommended for this experience.
Classes will begin Friday, January 8th and run through Friday, February 12th. Each Friday the class will begin at 10:00 AM and last 60 minutes. The classes will take place virtually on Google Meet.
The cost of the six-week session is only $63. This class is appropriate for EVERYONE!

Participants present their creative essays, short stories, poetry, or novels for constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement from the group. Each participant submits their writing online to all other participants in advance of the Friday meeting. Comments will be offered after each reading.
Discussion leader Jerry Janusz has been a participant in this group for twelve years.
The study group will meet Fridays from January 8 through August 27. Preregistration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed to you approximately one week prior to the first session.

The son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, this acclaimed young singer-songwriter specializes in lush, piano-based neocabaret pop ballads that he sings in what Rolling Stone calls "a rough-silk voice [that] sounds like a worn, inebriated diva sweeping down a staircase." These concerts are part of a series of 18 weekly shows from his Laurel Canyon home in which Wainwright performs his entire studio discography in chronological order.
