Weed, pot, marijuana, cannabis. Whatever you call it, the United States has a long, complicated, and conflicted history with this complicated herb. It is evil incarnate, or a panacea for all that ails us.
Our speaker, Dr. Strobbe is board-certified both in psychiatric and addictions nursing. He was the first Clinical Director of the UM Addiction Treatment Services (UMATS, 2006-2010). He completed his doctoral studies at UM in 2009. He is immediate past president (2018-2020) of the International Nurses Society on Addictions. Dr. Strobbe received UM's Golden Apple Award in 2015.

"Sexuality in Addiction Recovery": Dawn Farm.

Sexuality in Addiction Recovery will be presented byJerry Fouchey, BS, MA, SpA, CADC; Dawn Farm Lifestyle Medicine Therapist and Didactic Group Facilitator. Exploring sexuality in addiction recovery can be a challenging pursuit. This presentation will explore the physical effects of long-term alcohol and drug use on sexuality, changes in sexuality that emerge in early recovery, and some thoughts about the processes that promote a return to health. Also, using recovery literature as the starting point, this will be an opportunity to explore a wide variety of thoughts about the pursuit of intimate relationships in recovery. This program is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series.

This veteran singer-songwriter from Lynn, Massachusetts, a local favorite, writes sharp-witted songs about everyday life that blend pathos, humor, and biting satire, and his live shows feature a lot of impromptu storytelling and comedy. His fans include Christine Lavin and Livingston Taylor, and he's released several acclaimed CDs.

Drinking sacred cacao in ceremony is considered spiritual medicine by many indigenous cultures around the world. As we sit together in a small group and consume this sacred beverage, practice mindfulness, participate in guided meditation with intention in a backdrop of sacred sound, our soul is nourished, our heart opens and we experience greater spaciousness. It is a time for deep reflection and connection. The sacred cacao is prepared with intention, prayer and love.
Group size limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration required.
Please arrive 10 minutes early, and bring a meditation cushion an optional shawl/blanket. Fast 3 hours prior and arrive hydrated. Class is upstairs.
