This an all-levels instructor-guided conditioning circuit class is perfect for new aerialists, experienced flyers as a supplement to their current training, or for any folx who are interested in a new and exciting way to exercise. We will focus on building strength, alignment, flexibility, and technique with progressive training in the air and on the floor. Students will develop the core and upper body muscle groups needed for all aerial apparatuses and will learn exercises and spotting techniques to practice on their own. "Dexter Breakfast Ride": Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society.

Every Sat., Apr.-Nov. Beginner-friendly slow-paced (22 miles) and moderate/fast-paced (30-100 miles) round-trip rides to Dexter, Chelsea, and beyond, with stops at the Dexter Bakery or Zou Zou's in Chelsea. Alex Pratt Ceramics Exhibition: Yourist Studio Gallery.


Yourist Studio Gallery is delighted to feature the works of master potter and Yourist instructor Alex Pratt throughout November. Alex's sumptuous pots are beautifully thrown and always inspiring. Alex uses sgraffito, carving, and slip inlay on porcelain vessels, placing stylized natural forms in a geometric framework. Alex is inspired by the freely-applied linear decoration of Oribe pottery and the tightly interlocking compositional style of Cubist painting and sculpture. Alex is a ceramic artist from Dearborn, Michigan, who received his BFA from the University of Michigan, has taught throughout southeastern Michigan, and exhibits his work widely.

"The Secret Garden": The Encore Musical Theatre Company.

Every Thurs.-Sun. (except Nov. 28), Nov. 14-Dec. 22. This local professional theater company performs Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman's 1989 musical adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved children's novel set in Victorian England. Sent to live in the cheerless house of her reclusive, widowed uncle and his invalid son, an orphan girl discovers a hidden garden that reintroduces joy to her life and that of her relatives. The songs, with many lyrics drawn from the original text, have been described as "fetching" by the New York Times.

"DJ Whittington's Kool Kat: A Hip-Hop Panto": Theatre Nova.

A popular holiday tradition, this year director Carla Milarch's annual musical panto is based on the comedic TV puppet DJ Kat, a record spinning, leather jacketed cat. A panto is a British pantomime genre that blends children's stories with a bit of vaudeville sensibility to create a raucous family entertainment. Candy is provided. Michelle Mountain directs the world premiere of Livonia playwright David MacGregor's 2nd Sherlock Holmes play, which features the Victorian super sleuth solving a case for the playboy Prince of Wales on the eve of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Ann Arbor's Mark "Mr. B" Braun has established an international reputation as one of the most exciting interpreters of traditional boogie-woogie and blues piano. He has mastered the classics from Meade Lux Lewis and Jimmy Yancey to Brother Montgomery and Professor Longhair, and he has added several dynamic originals to the long tradition he works in. Mr. B returns to the Ark for his annual Thanksgiving weekend show, where he is usually joined by guest boogie and jazz pianists.
