PetPeople Opens in Cranbrook Village

Like the first, it's Whole Foods proximate

by Anita LeBlanc

From the March, 2020 issue

Ann Arbor's second PetPeople store opened in Cranbrook Village at the end of January. It's the seventh Michigan location for the twenty-year-old Ohio-based chain, which features high-end pet food, toys, bedding, collars, leashes, treats, and other merchandise.

Like the store across from Arborland, which opened in 2015, the new one has a "spaw" with self-service pet-wash stations, each outfitted with shampoos, towels, rubber aprons, and air dryers. "You come in, bring your dog or cat, wash them and then we clean up the mess!" emails community relations manager Terri Montigny from PetPeople's corporate office. For those who'd rather stay dry, they'll also be hiring a groomer.

Like the Washtenaw Ave. store, Cranbrook is close to a Whole Foods Market. Store manager Keegan Davis expects that having Whole Foods and REI nearby will be "good for business." Montigny says the Washtenaw location, kitty-corner from the Whole Foods in Huron Village, is "one of our few stand-alone stores; we are normally anchored by a grocery store. Having a Whole Foods Market near is a definite plus."

PetPeople, 960 W. Eisenhower Pkwy. (Cranbrook Village). (734) 369-6749. Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-6 p.m.     (end of article)
