One Less Phone Store
A Sprint dealer heads to Ypsilanti
From the March, 2018 issue
The phone store at S. Main and Stadium, full name Sprint by Generation Mobile Preferred, has packed up and moved to Ypsilanti. An employee told us that Generation Mobile Preferred thought that the store would do better at the new location on Michigan Ave. The move leaves three Sprint retailers in the Ann Arbor area, all on the edge of town: one in Briarwood mall, another in Oak Valley Centre, and the third off Washtenaw Ave. near Huron Dr.
While Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T all maintain downtown locations, a former Verizon employee told us that phone sales downtown are a rough business: "People just don't want to go downtown to get a phone when parking and getting to the store are such a hassle."
