Business consultant and Ann Arbor resident Nick Ferris plans to open an Old Carolina Barbecue Company franchise in mid- to late February in the Cranbrook Village outbuilding currently shared by Potbelly subs and Tony Sacco’s pizza. Ferris says he’s known the Ohio-based company’s founders for years.
Old Carolina touts itself as an authentic slow-smoked southern barbecue. The Ann Arbor location will be the ninth franchise and the first outside Ohio. Ferris says he plans to open more stores in the Ann Arbor area, including Smoke the Burger Joint, another Ohio franchise started by the Old Carolina founders.
