Macy's Backstage

"Fierce, glam, and ready to go anywhere"

by Micheline Maynard

From the October, 2021 issue

Shoppers at Briarwood this summer may have noticed that Macy's second floor was under construction, and wondered what was transpiring.

That floor has now been transformed into a Macy's Backstage outlet, selling affordable and trendy clothing-the Macy's equivalent of T.J. Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, or Off Fifth from Saks Fifth Avenue.

"Fierce, glam, and ready to go anywhere," the Macy's Backstage website declares of its stores. Macy's has added Backstage outlets in sixteen states, including five in Michigan, with even more set to open later in the fall.

Macy's Backstage website says the concept offers a wide variety of products, from men's, women's, and kids' clothing to makeup, gifts, home decor, toys, pet care, and gourmet food.

On its website, Macy's cautions that Backstage merchandise can only be returned at Backstage stores, with a thirty-day return policy. It doesn't honor Macy's coupons, but shoppers can use Macy's credit cards and gift cards there.

Macy's Backstage, 700 Briarwood Cir., (734) 998-5000. Mon.-Thurs. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
