The Georgetown Kroger, the last store standing at the decrepit Georgetown Mall on Packard, is scheduled to close September 12. One veteran cashier chokes up as she says: “It’s been my home for thirty-some years. They’re not telling us what’s going to happen.” She adds she’s recently seen “men pacing off the property.”

Developer Craig Schubiner, whose Harbor Georgetown Company has owned the property since 2001, got city approval to redevelop it a few years ago but never did. Schubiner didn’t return phone calls.
