I Spy: January 2021

January's I Spy "features a mural called Drifts, created by Ouizi," writes Ivana Tullett. "Artist Ouizi (Louise Jones) is known for her large floral mural installations," says Barb Tester. This "lovely mural with black-eyed Susans and coneflowers [is] at the corner of Washington and Ashley St.," adds Jane Hassinger. "The building was until recently the home of Three Chairs," explains Ken Koral, "but now houses an extension of Downtown Home & Garden." "I love that mural ... makes me smile every time I walk by it," writes Alice King. "So beautiful and cheerful."

Drifts is "part of the Ann Arbor Art Center's mural project," notes Janine Chey. The "2020 A2AC murals ... have really brightened up some blank spaces," adds Tester. "That area of town is becoming one of the most muraled," writes Andy Bayer, "and I love it!" Bria Reiniger recommends a self-guided tour as an "outside activity over the next few months!" Drifts is "my absolute favorite," says Rebecca Sweeton. Chris Dearing calls it "a piece of colorful happy during a stressful period in our lives." The sunny painting is "lovely," writes Jason Kahn, "especially on these cold, gray winter days!" "May 2021 be brighter for us all," adds Anne D. Toprak.
