Hyperion Coffee isn’t the only Ypsilanti business expanding to Ann Arbor. Cravings Dessert Lounge, which opened two years ago on Ellsworth Rd. in Ypsi Township, has added a second location inside Ahmo’s at Maple and Dexter.

Cravings is co-owned by Mohammed and Nasser Nemer, both members of the extended Issa family, which own the Ahmo’s restaurants. The family’s business empire got its start in the Dexter Rd. location back in the 1970s, when it was a party store called the Milk Depot.

Cravings’ signature dish is a kanafa bowl, at $8, a thickened milk pudding topped with fruit, walnuts, shredded filo dough, and syrup. One generous serving can easily be a meal–Mohammed Nemer says he often eats it for dinner–or shared between several customers.

Other treats include rice pudding, cake slices, and Middle Eastern pastries, including trays of baklava and other sweets. Individual pieces of baklava start at $2, while a small mix is $8 and a full-sized tray is $25.

Desserts can be ordered along with the regular Ahmo’s menu and are available for delivery.
