WWII Veteran Honored in Chelsea
Bertha Santos Holmstrand served as a Staff Sgt. in the US Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. During that time she was a translator with knowledge of five languages and also a meteorologist. She is a resident of Chelsea's Silver Maples Retirement Community. On June 4, 2021 members of the Sarah Caswell Angell chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented Bertha with a certificate on behalf of the DAR for her valor and service to our country.
