This class is designed for beginning aerialists to gain confidence and strength in the fundamentals of Aerial Silks. You will learn basic climbs and descents, how to apply foot locks, and work towards inversions.Strength makes it seamless! This is also an excellent conditioning class for established aerialists looking to hone their transitions and perfect their technique, without focusing on choreography.

This class will be an introduction to using the skills learned in Aerial Silks: Basics, along with more advanced poses, to work towards a complete aerial routine. Newer students will focus on building the endurance needed to spend several minutes in the air at a time, more advanced students will layer personal style, choreography, and refinement over the basics. All students will have the option to perform at our monthly showcase event, LIFT OFF. Be ready to build strength, flexibility, and coordination - not to mention bruises in unusual places…!

"The Intersection of Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse" will be presented by Barbara Niess May, MPA, MSW; Executive Director, SafeHouse Center; and David J.H. Garvin, LMSW; Founder, Alternatives to Domestic Aggression, and Chief Operating Officer, Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County. Domestic violence offender and survivor alcohol and other drug use/abuse will be central to this discussion. The audience will be provided with a primmer regarding batterer tactics, strategies, and core beliefs which hold the batterer accountable for his abusive behaviors while maintaining and promoting survivor safety. People with a personal or professional interest in this topic are welcome. This program is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series, a FREE series developed to provide accurate, helpful, hopeful, practical, current information about chemical dependency, recovery, and related issues. This is a modified and simplified version of the increasingly popular Chinese game. It bears some resemblance to gin rummy in the collection of sets and runs, but uses colorful tiles instead of playing cards. Because we max out at 10 students, we can determine the needs of our group and modify homework and individual assignments accordingly. While we have set curriculum, we keep in close contact with our students to tailor our instruction to meet their goals.

Our students spend 7 weeks learning content and strategy. Besides helping students understand test questions, budget their time, and prioritize, we also teach and review math, science, English and reading concepts. When there has been any degree of wrongdoing or non-loving action from the slightest hurtful commnet to a more serious betrayal, the relationships is jeopardized. This workshop will provide information and ideas about the importance of amends making and getting to forgiveness.
