Tuesdays, 11-Noon. Please join us for this one-hour mindfulness sitting; it's appropriate for everyone, beginners and experienced meditators alike. There are two 20 minute sits, the first guided and the second silent, with discussion and questions in between.
We are currently discussing readings from Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness for Beginners: reclaiming the present moment--and your life. No need to buy the book.

This dynamic, physically demanding pracatice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Prepare to sweat as you move through this set sequence. A warm welcome to the study of Vedanta with the learned monks of the 120 year old Ramakrishna Order established by Swami Vivekananda! Starting Friday, June 2, Swami Prasannatmananda, the head of the Vedanta Society of Berkeley, CA will take us through an important Vedantic text "Ashtavakra Gita" on Skype. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

This day retreat, led by Paulette Grotrian, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Instructor, is modeled after one developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph. D., who created the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course for the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. The day will include sitting meditation, walking meditation, the body scan, mindful movement, mindful eating, and mindfulness in nature, along with instruction and inspiration. This is a day of self care, rest, and renewal.
