Supervised Bridge Play Class: Ann Arbor Senior Center.

This class is designed for beginners and low intermediate players who wish to improve their declarer and defensive play. The class will run with students shuffling, dealing and playing 7-9 hands per session. Hands will be analyzed after completion to review the bidding, play and defense. Instructor will guide declarer on each hand as to the best plan and strategy to succeed. No book needed. Students may either pay for all 10 weeks at the start or pay as they go using the drop-in fee. It is highly recommended that students have some type of previous bidding class or experience. For more details, contact instructor Ray Gentz or the Ann Arbor Senior Center. Ann Arbor Senior Center member $100 / non-member $120. Drop-in fee is $10 member / $12 non-member per class.

Memorial Day Parade: Glacier Area Home Owners' Association.

Arbor's oldest neighborhood parade--and the best one in the area for young kids and their families--is a 6-block jaunt that features members of the Huron High School drumline and Girl and Boy Scout troops. Also (tentatively), a police car and a fire truck. Kids invited to decorate their bikes and join in at the end of the parade. Followed by a brief memorial service in Glacier Highlands Park and a chance for kids to play at the playground.
10 a.m., Frederick to Middleton to Bardstown to Windemere to Barrister. Free.

Yoga for Mamas with Barbara Brookens-Harvey: Hygeia Center for Healing Arts.

Every Mon. (except May 13 & 20), Apr. 8-June. 7. Yoga For Mamas is a hatha postnatal and prenatal yoga class honoring mothers and babies during the childbearing year. Practicing yoga during this time can help to relax the mind, strengthen the body, alleviate discomfort and support the growing bond between a mother and her baby. Gentle yoga poses combined with breath are taught to bring awareness to the changes in the body that occur during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period. Class is held in a warm, supportive space with an emphasis on celebrating the journey to mothering! Prenatal mamas and mamas and babies 12 months and younger are welcome.

Note: The May 10 6:45 screening is preceded at 6:15 by a performance by the Appleseed Collective, a popular young local acoustic quintet whose enchanting music is a flexible blend of lyric-based folk-rock with Dixieland, jug band, western Swing, bluegrass and gypsy jazz rhythms and harmonies, and the screening itself begins with a Betty Boop cartoon.

Introduction to Letterpress Printing parts 1 & 2: Boundedition Book Arts Studio.

Letterpress is the printing using relief materials, such as hand-set type, process engravings (magnesium dies), or a variety of decorative or illustrational mediums (lino-cuts, wood engravings). This class, taught by Jim Horton, will teach designing for printing (mocking-up), the lay of the type case, the use of a composing stick, the setting of movable type, The proofing and preparing a form for printing on a vintage press, and printing techniques. Students will then have access to continued use of the printing equipment at Open Studio sessions. This initial class will focus on setting a short poem or quotation for a card.
