“I spy with my little eye the newly-painted water tower,” writes Mike Stanley. “The Washtenaw fin and feather,” says Melissa Thun, referring to August’s clue, is in “the northwest corner of County Farm Park.” “I remember this design was chosen as the result of an online poll for the Art in the Sky public art contest,” writes Robert Kerr. “I am so happy they picked it,” says Linda McCallum. “This one ‘flew’ above the rest,” quips Alice Ralph, who, like McCallum, voted for it.

It’s “harder to spot this time of year with all the big trees!” writes Diane McIntyre. But on the sunny morning when Ralph caught it while waiting at a long stoplight, “it sparkled above the treetops.”

“Should be interesting this winter,” says David Karl. The design by Bill Burgard, a U-M Stamps School lecturer and alum, “features a swan, a sandhill crane, a woodpecker, and a bird of prey above water,” David continues. “The lower part,” Robert Kerr adds, “represents fish swimming in the Huron River.”

We received 34 entries correctly identifying the water tower. Our winner, drawn at random, is Marta Ruiz. She will enjoy her gift certificate at Zingerman’s.
