Chris Hutton closed his Quiznos franchise on Plymouth Rd. “Business was slow. Quiznos didn’t weather the recession very well,” he says. “I think everyone knows that.”
The formerly ubiquituous “mmm toasty” sub franchisor is in Chapter 11, with about 2,100 franchises left, down from a high-water mark of 5,000. This closing leaves two in Ann Arbor: Hutton’s other Quiznos, inside Pierpont Commons, and the Quiznos inside the Jackson Rd. Meijer.
Hutton, who also owns the Sweetwaters in Kerrytown, has gone back to working as a corporate finance analyst at Ford.
