“We’re happy to be here,” says the barrista at Peet’s Coffee & Tea, the laid-back, super-cool California coffee company that has taken over the Caribou coffee shop, which seemed more local though it was based in Minnesota. Both are now owned by the same German corporation, Joh. A. Benckiser, which is slowly phasing out the Caribou brand.
