“I Spy that building at 715 S. Forest Ave.,” writes Vivian Loh. The “photo is of Forest Plaza,” notes Dave Bicknell. “This Spanish Renaissance detail graces the entryway of the charming 1920’s … apartment building,” write Enio and Adriana Dill Gomes; “our first home as newly weds.” Built in 1929, the original nine-story design for Forest Plaza was reduced to five and set back from the road after a controversy over building a high-rise in a residential neighborhood.
It’s so set back that Bob DeBona didn’t recognize it, even though “I have ridden by there hundreds of times on my bicycle.” He credits his wife’s genealogy “sleuthing skills” for tracking it down.
Judi Taylor writes that she “enjoyed searching the internet and city streets to find this,”–though it was her reluctant son, Dan (“Mom made me go with her”) who spotted it first.
