Florwet, Zeller, & Faul
April 2013 Fake Ad update
by Jay Forstner
"This month's Fake Ad is on page 78 and is ostensibly for a law firm," wrote Tom Weeks in his entry last month. "In fact, you adroitly hid last month's winner's name in the name of the firm: FlorWET, ZELler and Faul, LLC. I love the double entendre of the name since one would Faul on a Florwet ... perhaps all the way down the stairs to the Zeller? Keep up the good work!"
Many entries predicted we would receive a huge number of entries this time, since the ad was so much easier to spot than the tricky "Morita" ad from the previous month. Truth is, we received only 123 correct entries--twenty-six fewer than in March.
"The Fake Ad was filled with good ideas this month," wrote Amanda Kramer--it offered to sue on behalf of people distracted by billboards or deafened by TV ads. "I think we should be compensated for the amount of ads we are subjected to," wrote Kramer, "although not the ones in the Observer."
Our winner was Terry Morris, who's taking the $25 Fake Ad prize to Zingerman's.
To enter this month's contest, find the fake ad in the May issue and follow the instructions in the box at the bottom of the Back Page. The Fake Ad always contains the name of last month's winner in some form.
To enter the contest, send email with the subject "Fake Ad" or "I Spy" to firstname.lastname@example.org. Mail: 2390 Winewood, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. You must include your name, address, and telephone number! All correct entries received by noon on Friday, May 10, will be eligible for this month's random drawings. Winners will receive $25 gift certificates to any business advertising in the May issue.
