Dexter's Coney and Jewelry Box boutique Are Gone

Two Dexter closings

by Sally Mitani

From the June, 2014 issue

Of the abrupt March closing of Dexter's Coney Island, landlord Loreen McCalla had this to say of Jim Cacini and son Brian, who opened the business in 2012: "They're in the hole $10,000 to me. I told them when they pay up they can have the key back." McCalla spoke from Palm Bay, Florida, where she owns Loreen's Village Cafe (for many years, she operated the Dexter restaurant under the same name).

Also gone is the Jewelry Box Boutique in Dexter Crossing. Owner Melissa Duncan also owned The Cleaning Goddesses cleaning service; its space is now Bailiwicks.    (end of article)
