Wags to Wiskers pet supplies in Dexter Plaza closed for good last Christmas Eve, but there’s a happy ending to the story–just not in Michigan. Owner Kristen Snyder moved to North Carolina and moved the business there, too. “It’s warmer, [and] business is booming here in North Carolina,” she says by phone from her new store, which is located in an area where she has family.
Snyder opened the Dexter store in 2008 but wasn’t getting enough traffic. “Here, I’m going from a few hundred cars a day [passing her store] to several thousand.” Loyal Wags To Wiskers customers do have options—there are four other Wags To Wiskers locations in the area, including Ann Arbor, Saline, Chelsea, and Plymouth. And eventually they’ll have more options in North Carolina, too. Snyder says the store’s doing so well that she plans to open more.
