“Was this too easy?” asks Jim Ferguson, who gets his dark chocolate-covered cherries from the building highlighted in December’s feature. “As a ‘cherry junkie,’ I’ve been a customer from the get-go,” he continues. “‘Cherries In Winter’ … it has to be … Cherry Republic, 223 South Main Street,” concurs Tracy Lai. “We’ve never been to the one in Ann Arbor,” writes Bob DeBona. But that didn’t stop his family from recognizing the shield depicted in the photo. The DeBonas, who have shopped at the original store in Glen Arbor, drove by the Main Street store to confirm their guess. “The building houses … Cherry Republic on the ground floor and The Ann Arbor … Club on the top floor,” writes Cathie Andrea.
