If you look at the gas station at S. Main and William on Google Maps, you’ll see the building shows up with three labels: Mobil, Shell, and BP. The overlap is the result of a rapid cycle of ownership and branding.

The station at the south end of town was a BP for many years, but it recently went through a single year as a Shell station before changing ownership and debuting as a remodeled Mobil in December. New owner Mike Jamil bought the business with his partners, brothers Ziad and Sean Koza, in September.

He says the partners decided to switch to Mobil because they got a good offer from the company. Plus, they already own the Mobil at Packard and Platt. Outside the Main St. station, the new owners have added bright red curved “Synergy poles” that play advertisements. Inside, they’ve remodeled with a walk-in beer cooler and a growler tap system that Jamil hopes will attract football fans and others.

“It wasn’t cheap,” he says, “so I could use some customers!” He says he’s working on the Google Maps listing too.
