Ann Arbor at the Crossroads

The statement that " ... council voted to approve it [413 E. Huron] by a vote of six to five, with the mayor casting the deciding vote" is not accurate. The mayor doesn't enjoy any special privilege in voting that would make his vote any more "the deciding vote" than any of the other five votes in favor. And the roll call vote that night began with Higgins and ended with Teall. So if you wanted to point to one of the six votes in favor as "the deciding vote" then that distinction would belong to Margie Teall, as the tally stood 5-5 when she was called upon to cast her vote.

Askins is correct; our apologies for the error.
